The Character
Country Name: Mexico
Human Name: Ana María Campos Hernández.
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Personality: At first sight, Mexico is free-spirited, easy-going and will stand almost anything that's thrown at her. She takes things lightly, has a wide grin on her face and finds herself to be a wisecracker. She can't stop making funny remarks to save her life. You can't shut that girl up. She tends to say what's on her mind, especially when she's drunk. She seems to be able to outsmart the people around her. She can't help it. Everything she says is just so irresistibly funny that she wants to help brighten everyone's lives.
She loves to party and celebrate life (and dead!). She'll always find excuses to have the day off, although she is extremely hard-working. She is warm and caring, she loves guests and her hospitality is admirable. She is not the most responsible person and can seem to be reckless at times. She acts in the spur of the moment. Just for the hell of it. Mostly being spontaneous and is up for even the most silly of things. She likes to be practical and make her life easier.
She's very intelligent and traditional. She's very into museums and archeology and seems fascinated with her Mother's (The Mayan Empire) and her Father's (The Aztec Empire) culture. She is very protective of their treasures (she is demanding they return Moctezuma's crown to its native land).
She is very charismatic and has a good relationship with most of the nations. But when she gets angry, she is a force to be reckon with and nothing will calm her. Mainly insulting her history or her traditions is enough to make her revolt into a raging fire. She is very loyal and will go out of her way to help those she cares for. She may fight with people she loves, but if someone else dares to mess with them, she is fierce. She is very stubborn and finds herself in messes too big for her to handle. She is mostly a neutral country (although America sometimes pushes her into helping him), mainly because she doesn't have the time to fight others while she's trying to fix her internal problems.
However, despite her struggles, Mexico is also a very hopeful and dreamy nation. She yearns to find stability and become a powerful country. She is slightly superstitious, believing most of the legends about ghosts and alebrijes (Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastic creatures). She doesn't mess with other people and prefers them not to mess with her either.
Weapon: Machete! (Don't make her mad when she has one.)
Abilities:
★ She can see magical creatures, especially Alebrijes, and interacts with them. Whether she has magical talents or not, it is unknown. And most likely, she will never tell you.
★ She can talk and see Death (Catrina). They are old friends and share mutual respect/even love for one another.
★ She speaks over 300 native american languages, and though she is Catholic nation, she also remains in contact with the Aztec and Mayan gods.

-Loyalty. She is loyal to the end. When she loves someone/cares for them, there is hardly anything she won't do for them. Even at the expense of her well-being.
-Hard-working. When she sets her mind to it, she can accomplish many things and get the work done in time.
-Partying! The party doesn't start until Mexico walks in (bringing the Tequila, of course.)
-Optimism. Despite her bloody history and internal struggles, she still seems to find the positive side of things. Despite the situation, she'll find ways to celebrate what a great nation she is.
-Charismatic. She has this way to make people like her, even so that she can charm her way into telling other nations she will pay her debt later.
Weaknesses:
-Stubborn. Even though she may be head over heels in trouble, there is nothing that will make her change her mind. The only reason she will accept help is if it is being forced on her.
-Lazy. She may be hard-working, but if she doesn't feel up to it, or if she doesn't want to, there is nothing that will maker her do it.
-Short-tempered. When someone makes her angry, she is a forced to be reckon with. You do not want to deal with an angry Mexico, for she will find every single way to make your life miserable.
-Hypocritical. She may never say it, but if she dislikes/hates someone, she will do so quietly. Making sure everyone knows the faults, weaknesses, etc. of the object of her dislike.
-Open. She is very open to people, which makes her naive and even vulnerable for others to hurt her.
-Contradictory. She may say one thing, but she tends to do the opposite if that seems to be the best choice. She seems to be someone publicly, but someone else privately.
Sample Post:
Mexico sighed. Why her? Why had she been dragged to this mess? Did her boss know how much this would affect her? Sure, it was for the best. Sure, she needed to redefine her security. But asking him for help might as well end with her buried head first. She did not want to ask America for safety tips. She did not want him monitoring her security. He was so vile about the border issues that she'd just give him what he wanted and stayed on her side. He should do the same. If it wasn't for those medaling drug cartels. She groaned. She wished she could be selfish enough to tell everyone to back off and leave her alone. She wished she could just say she wasn't doing it. Not in a million years. Not while her pride depended on it. But she wasn't. She had to take her people into account. And this seemed to be the only way.
Why her? She repeated in her mind. Why her? When it had been Colombia everything was good. It wasn't her problem and she did not have to care about it. If only America had control over his drug use none of this would happen. She wanted to slap herself, hide under the biggest rock and stay there until everything was better. She sighed as she stepped at the border. She was going to get it. She was sure of this. The fact that Mexico had asked America for help would be in everyone's mouth. She wouldn't have it with America. She would end up owning him. Again! If only that little jerk didn't take such pleasure in her misery then maybe she would see this as something positive. She took a deep breath, finding the courage to go through with this. She cursed under her breath and finally gave in. America! She called.
