The Character
Country Name: Iceland
Human Name: Emil Sørensen
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Emil is not that tall, but even so, he wears boots that give him at least a couple extra inches. And, by human standard his looks are rather unusual or rather, flat out not normal. He has a very pale skin tone, but his skin certainly doesn’t look light in comparison to his snowy, neck length, white hair. His eyes are somewhere between a purple and a blue, depending on the lighting. His clothing choice is rather relaxed, he prefers comfort when it comes to his clothes Which leaves him with the option of an white undershirt, a button up, thick, brown over-shirt, baggy, brown pants, and two knee-high white boots. And for no apparent use or reason at all, he has a white colored ribbon in place of a tie. The puffin, which in itself can be considered an accessory, always on his shoulder, wears a ribbon as well, his is a vivid red.
Personality:
Emil’s personality is one that is not very honest at all. He’s shy so he can’t own up to things easily. Like calling Norway by the endearing term of brother dear, he’ll find any excuse he can to avoid it simply because it’s so embarrassing that he feels as if he could die from the nervous feeling it gives him in his stomach. He’ll also try to run away if he can’t avoid the upsetting and unseemly situation by staying in the place where he is.
He’s bad about being a habitual lazy because he’ll procrastinate on things he doesn’t want to do until the cows come home and he won’t even bother to find a reason to do so. He just assumes you should know better than to bother thinking that he would do anything against his own desire. If you aren’t smart enough, it’s your own tough luck. It’s bad enough that Mr. Puffin bosses him around, he doesn‘t want to take crap from anybody else unless he absolutely has to.
Emil is fairly nice though, with usually a level head. Sometimes his temper escapes him though, which it can be surprising to see his temper snap considering he always seems bored or uninterested. If he becomes attached to you, he really becomes attached to you, he‘d just sooner swim in a vat of acid than admit to being fond of you. He isn‘t unreasonable though.
He‘ll admit certain things if you make a valid point, but he shows he isn‘t happy about it.. His personality is the type that makes him in denial to the point of occasional violent, stubborn bouts but he tries not to be too violent - usually that’s only because he feels it’s too much work to waste that energy on certain people. His nature makes it hard to make friends, since he’s shy, but he tries to get along with people, for the most part.
He has a fondness for things such as the like of fishing, hunting, sleeping, stories, and drinking. The only thing that can make him love them even more is when he gets to do them with Norway -never to be admitted, of course. It would be too horrifying to admit he likes spending time with a man who tortures him to be called brother dear.
As far as the sleeping aspect goes, he’ll always demand the side of the bed closest to the wall. Despite the fact he’ll either end up using Norway as a pillow or kicking Norway off the bed entirely before the night is at and end and the morning has come. But it’s better than dealing with the monster he can be when he’s woken up from a perfectly pleasant sleep.
Weapon:
A small, sheathed dagger hidden in one of his boots. It’s probably the only weapon he really takes with him anywhere. Unless you count Mr. Puffin as a lethal weapon.
Likes:
His brother (I know it says not to. >< But it’s kind of impossible not to. Norge is a big part of Iceland’s life.)
Mr. Puffin
He has a child-hood favorite thing to do. He likes sleeping in Norge’s bed on the inside, closest to the wall

Being disturbed by any loud, obnoxious noises that aren’t his own.
Calling Norway bror -it’s too embarrassing

He’s not too fond of being pestered by those he owes money too
Being woken up
Being scolded by Mr. Puffin
Being teased

Strengths:
Denial; he’s become a professional at the game of denial. What with the other Nordics trying to get him to call Norway and themselves Brother Dear and other nations knocking on his door to collect the huge debt of money he owes to them. And of course, always fighting with Mr. Puffin, you have to be good at denial for that.
His poker face; He always looks calm and bored, but that sometimes serves as a cover for the on-coming surprise of his fiery temper. It leaves him at an advantage, more or less, when others can’t tell what he has plotting in his head.
Sleeping; he can practically sleep through almost anything if he wanted to. Things that could wake the dead would probably not even phase him. If something did wake him up, he’d either throw a violent temper and go back to sleep, or just roll over and go back to sleep depending on how annoyed it made him.
Swimming; He’s not too shabby when it comes to swimming, but unfortunately that’s not very helpful without water around that’s big enough to swim in.
Fae-folk; He doesn’t really like to admit they exist, especially in front of his brother. But Iceland can see, hear, talk to, and touch the mythological creatures that serve as companions to his brother. He’s also quite fond of them.
Weaknesses:
Procrastination; he’s not very good at paying back his debts or working to pay them off for that matter. He’d rather try and lure in tourist to pick-pocket and fish to gain money than do any hard work. This causes problems for not only the people who need something from him, but those who worry about him as well. This also is a weakness because he doesn’t exactly do things he’s suppose to when he’s suppose to.
Money Management; he couldn’t manage money properly if it would save his life. This causes lots of problems in areas that he truly needs money. As far as his ability to properly control money input and out-put goes, it’d be safer to leave the job to a monkey.
Honesty; he can never truthfully be honest about how he feels -to himself or to others and it always comes out in a roundabout way that makes him hard to understand and a person that’s easily teased. He rarely speaks honestly, it seems he has trouble doing it, like it some how scares me.
Taking care of himself; He’s got absolutely no knack for it. Having always been in his brother’s care, he isn’t use to doing things on his own and often times either forgets to feed himself or second guess himself.
Fevers; As most know, he has volcanoes, he tends to get fevers when they blow or are active. Depending on the level of activity they can be of no consequence to very worrisome fevers.
Sample Post:
Iceland thought everyone was crazy. There was no way it was impossible to escape a HOUSE of all things. How stupid could they be? All you had to do was go back to the door you came in from, turn the knob, and open it! Everyone that went into that house was probably just playing a prank! That was all. And he’d prove it. … After he slept a bit more. It was only noon, Who wanted to crawl out of bed at noon? Not Iceland, that’s for sure.
He slept in a few hours more, and by the time he’d finally took a shower, brushed his teeth and hair, got dressed, grabbed a piece of bread, a bag of salmiakk, and a thing of coke… Eating the bread on the way there of course, he hadn’t gotten to the house until about Seven at night, when it was starting to get dark. Iceland glared at the…. So not… intimidating house. Who would be afraid of a house like this one? It wasn’t scary in the least!
So, plucking up his courage, Iceland stormed through the front doors. He slammed the door shut behind him and counted to ten before turning back towards it. He curled his hands around the knob and started twisting… He then proceeded to yank at the door with all his might and even put a foot against the wall next to it to try and help himself leverage it open. It was all to no avail. The door wouldn’t budge. Iceland turned back away from it and put his back to the door, slouching to the ground, sitting. It was still nothing…
There was nothing weird about the place. The door was just old, really old, it probably rusted up or something. His brutal slamming of the door probably just shook something loose and it locked the door! That was all. And the incredibly eerie feeling the building gave off? Nothing more than his imagination. That still did not make this a good situation. Iceland wiped his hair from his face with an irritated sigh, “Not cool, dude. What should we do?”
He glanced to the puffin on his shoulder. Mr. Puffin began squawking in out-rage and blaming Iceland for the trouble they were in, in his annoying voice, and mafia vocabulary. Just great. Stuck in a creepy house, with Mr. Puffin… Oh well, he could always eat Mr. Puffin if it got too bad, and he still had half a thing of coke left, and some salmiakk… And… And. Iceland curled his arms around his legs and lulled his head onto his knees. Muttering, “If I’d known I was going to die alone here, I would have told broer, ‘love you.’ Man, this sucks…”
