The Character
Country Name: Mexico (Estados Unidos Mexicanos).
Human Name: Ana María Campos Hernández.
Gender: Female.
Appearance:
Personality: Mexico is characterized by her emotional depth. She has such vast reservoir of happiness that she doesn't come to realize her influence on others. Passion runs through, which causes her to fall very easily and quickly in love, often making the same mistakes. Her kind and gentle side sprouts from this very passion.
But she's deceptive, thinking that it is for everyone's good; as well as charming her way out of any situation (especially paying back her debts).
Although Ana María tends to be open about her feelings, she has yet to show her true colors. Her tenacity borders the limit of stubbornness and there is no force that will change her mind.
She says what she's thinking (especially when she's drunk) and in that honesty, she fails to realize that she can often be mean or just plain cruel. Mexico has a nasty temper. She can be very patient and tolerant, but when pushed over the edge she is a force to be reckoned with and there is no hesitation in using violence.
This cheerful nation will stand almost anything that's thrown at her. Her trademark wide grin makes her take things lightly and she can't help but make funny remarks to save her life. Talking is in her nature.
Parties, parties, parties! Mexico always has a reason to celebrate life. She enjoys being around people and her hospitality is admirable. However, she's lazy, (but hard-working when she wants to).
Ana María will go out of her way to help someone she cares for. Once considered a friend, her loyalty is unbreakable. Note that she is not the best to deal with betrayal, in fact, she is susceptible to hold on to grudges.
Despite her struggles, Mexico is a very hopeful, dreamy country full of rich history and traditions. She can see Alebrijes (Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastic creatures) and tends to believe in her legends.
One day, she hopes to find stability and become a powerful nation.
Weapon: Machete! (Don't make her mad when she has one.)

Strengths:
-Making people laugh. She is great at lighting the mood and making people feel comfortable around her.
-Cooking. Her cuisine is considered among the top five world-wide.
-Loyalty. She is loyal to the end. When she loves someone/cares for them, there is hardly anything she won't do for them. Even at the expense of her well-being.
-Hard-worker. When she sets her mind to it, she can accomplish many things and get the work done in time.
-Partying! The party doesn't start until Mexico walks in. (Bringing the Tequila, of course.)
-Optimism. Despite her bloody history and internal struggles, she still seems to find the bright side of things.
-Charismatic. She has this way of making people like her, even so that she can charm her way out of trouble.
Weaknesses:
-Stubborn. Even though she may be head over heels in trouble, there is nothing that will make her change her mind. The only reason she will accept help is if it is forced on her.
-Lazy. She may hard-working, but if she doesn't feel like it, she simply won't do anything.
-Short-tempered. When someone makes her angry or when she's having a really bad day, she can lose it at the slightest fuse. You do not want to deal with an angry Mexico, for she will find every single way to make your life miserable.
-Hypocritical. She may never say it, she'll just smile and curse you under her breath. She also seems to be someone publicly, but someone else privately. She's very careful as to who show her true colors.
-Open. She is very open to people, which makes her naïve and even vulnerable for others to hurt her.
-Direct. Mexico, more often than not, lacks a filter. In her attempt to formulate her opinion, she often just says what's on her mind, without realizing the impact of her words. She hurts people easily.
Sample Post:
Mexico panted heavily. She had been running for a while now, unsure as to where her path would lead. She didn't know where the others were and quite frankly, she did not care. She just wanted to get out. Her body leaned against the wall. Her fingers, her hands, her legs, her arms, everything felt hollow. She did not possess any strength to keep on going.
Her heart was beating at an unbelievable speed. Any moment now it would rip away from her chest and run through the endless maze of the mansion until it found a window to jump from.
And then? What would she do then?
She didn't know.
But she had to do something other than rest against the first stable structure she could find. If only she could find it in herself to move her feet. How she had come to be in this position, she did not know. It had started as a game. Pure and innocent fun. Ana María had always been up for even the silliest challenges and going inside a supposed haunted mansion seemed like fun enough. She was used to ghost stories. She did not fear them. Nor did she fear death either. But there was something about being haunted down and killed that could bristle even this Latina's skin.
She had never been so terrified. Her heavy breaths started to slow down and she was able to breath normally. She had locked the door in front of her, in an attempt to gain some time, but it seemed like such an absurd idea. The monster was looking for her. He would find her and then he would kill her like he had with every one of the other nations. Mexico wanted to scream in agony.
And then, she remembered the countless times everything had fallen to despair. 1968. 1811. 1519. 1910. 2011.
Each year marked another tear, another cry for help, in her history. If she had survived a conquest, an independence, a revolution and many massacres, how can she not survive this? For a moment, there was a faint glimpse of hope in her chocolate eyes.
Then it vanished.
The door in front of her trembled in vile movements. It was there. The monster was trying to get in. Mexico took a deep breath as she tried to maintain her composure. She clenched unto her weapon. The machete had tears of blood, but she had not dared to wipe them off. She didn't want to understand they might belong to one of her friends. It was easier to deal with this situation when it wasn't personal.
The door screamed fiercely in an attempt to burst open. Mexico prepared herself. Something inside her had snapped. She would not deal with this any longer. Her position turned into defense as she waited to meet her fate. She wasn't going to be an easy prey.
